Audio, video, security and automation data are integrated into user terminals, ONU (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Optical Network Unit<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), and transmitted on a single PON.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The main function of the PON network is to improve the internet service, which can be added to homes, hospitals, hotels, etc. \u2013 basically anywhere that uses services from an internet provider. Its application also extends to telephony, automation and electronic monitoring, being able to integrate any project that uses a single network.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PON network transmission system<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Three fundamental components form the PON network transmission system. The first is the OLT (Optical Line Terminal, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Optical LineTerminal<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), where the system is managed locally or remotely. The transmission of the optical signal happens through the ODN (Optical Distribution Network, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Optical Distribution Network<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The optical signal is then received and <\/span><b>converted into electricity at the UN<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Optical Network Unit, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Optical Network Unit<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) or at the ONT (Optical Line Terminal, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">optical network terminal<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). See here the <a href=\"https:\/\/anlix.io\/en\/qual-e-a-diferenca-entre-onu-e-ont\/\">difference between ONU and ONT<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PON network types<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PON network technology can be of two types:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EPON (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ethernet Passive Optical Network<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">);<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/anlix.io\/en\/tecnologia-gpon-o-que-e-e-qual-a-sua-finalidade\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GPON (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gigabit Passive Optical Network<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both use the FTTx architecture. The main feature of EPON is that it guarantees the same connection speed between OLT and ONU with 1.25 Gbps reverse flow. Meanwhile, GPON has different rates of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">downstream<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">upstream<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, respectively 2.5 Gbps and 1.25 Gbps.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Therefore, the main difference between the two is the transfer speed, where EPON is symmetric and GPON is asymmetric. Therefore, the ideal PON network for less dense areas, that is, with fewer subscribers, is EPON, which has a low application cost.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our <\/span><a style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Data traffic through the Ethernet protocol;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IEEE 802.3ah specifications;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Data transmission with a 1518-byte package;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Traffic rate performance delivers up to 67% to the end user;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When connected to peer networks, it does not require conversion or encapsulation;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each OLT PON port can connect up to 64 ONUs\/ONTs.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The main characteristics of the <\/span><b>GPON type PON network<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Multiservices operated through GEM (<em>GPON Encapsulation Method<\/em>);<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Packets from 53 bytes to 1518 bytes;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Traffic rate efficiency delivers up to 93% to the end user;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ITU-T G984 specification;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Data from various transport protocols is encapsulated such as Ethernet, IP, TCP, UDP, T1\/E1, video and VoIP, and AES encryption on the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">downstream<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each OLT PON port connects to up to 400;\"> as it does not need energy in the access network, it uses less electrical components which, in turn, reduce the chances of failures resulting from electricity and maintenance;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Efficient infrastructure:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> its RF over fiber (RFoG) and RF video overlay services coexist without sacrificing bandwidth, providing multi-service, triple play;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Easy to maintain: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight:
